Obituary for Robin Simmons Kendall
Robin Sue Simmons Kendall, 68, of Ashland, loving daughter, wife, and sister, passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025 at UK King’s Daughters.
Robin was born Sept. 28, 1956, in Ashland, the daughter of Charles H. Simmons and Roxielena Nicholas Simmons. She was a 1975 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, attended Centre College in Danville, Ky., and was a graduate of Ashland Community College. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashland, and attended Crossroads Baptist Church.
Often a light in anyone’s darkness, Robin cherished her family and friends, and never failed to call on her mother, father, sisters and brother, nieces and nephews, classmates, and her fellow churchgoers to talk and laugh and keep up with their lives. A giving person, it would brighten your day to receive a surprise letter or gift from Robin. She was an accomplished pianist and music lover who could learn almost any instrument, and it was a delight to hear her play and sing.
Robin was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Simmons of Ashland. She is survived by a husband of more than 40 years, Doug Kendall of Ashland; her mother, Roxielena Simmons; a brother and three sisters and their families, Julie Capuder of Ashland, Ky., Jenny and Scott Mayer of Haubstadt, Ind., Phillip and Leesa Simmons of Spartanburg, S.C., and Catherine and Allen Blair of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; two brothers-in-law, Hal and Don Kendall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robin and her unfailing love of her family and her friends and neighbors, who she regarded as absolute treasures worthy of her time, will be greatly missed.
