Dan Wells, 64, of Westwood, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 22nd, at Community Hospice Care Center. Dan was born June 24, 1957 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Jerry Wells and Ruth Lares Wells Perry, and stepson of the late Charles 'Buck' Perry. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by 2 brothers; Bill Rhodes and Bob Rhodes. Surviving include his loving wife of 40 years; Ruth Diane Hunt Wells. A daughter; Danielle Webb, and husband Anthony, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky. A son; Daryl Wells (Ashley Sturgill), of Greenup Kentucky. 3 beautiful grandchildren; Brody Elijah Wells, Brock Isaac Wells, and Kinsley Faith Webb. Many brother in laws and sister in laws. A special mother in law; Betty Jean Hunt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. Dan had 2 special friends that he grew up with; Arby Rowe and Dean Walters. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, shooting pool, camping and boating. He was a 1975 graduate of Paul Blazer High School. Dan was a retired US Army veteran and was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181. He was a member of the local Eagles, Elks, Moose, and American Legion. Dan was a lifetime member of the Ironton VFW Post 8850. He was a member of the Claybank Lodge #98 of Alabama, and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Dothan, Orient of Alabama. Funeral services will be Monday, November 29th, at 11:00 AM at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME by Brother Harold McCowan. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Visitation is Sunday evening from 6 - 8 PM, with masonic services at 7:00 PM by Officers and Brothers of Fred Gross Lodge #953, Westwood, Kentucky.
