What did you think you would be doing after high school?
I hoped to be a Professional Baseball Catcher.
I was always told that I was a Horne, I would never amount to anything. So I left with the Army in 1976.
My mom helped raise Billy Ray Cyrus. Ron would dump him off at our house and go to Frankfurt.
I played guitar with Keith Whitley and Ricky Scaggs in Argillite.
When I was a boy I planted the Kentucky Clock with AB Chandler and COL Harlan Sanders.
I met Julie Andrews in Tokyo (Narita) Japan at the Raddison Hotel.
I drank beer at Haldenberg Halle in Goppingen Germany with Dan McCafferty and Manny Charlton of Nazareth and Hair of the Dog was dedicated to me.
What is the one thing that has changed about you since high school?
I survived the Horne curse and graduated from college. Became a Satellite System Engineer for a Major GOV Military Contractor, and survived being married to a California Valley girl. One thing you find out the hard way marrying a California girl is that what is yours is ours and what was ours is hers in the end.
1975 - I tried out for the Reds. I made the Reds and was blocked by Bench to protect his legacy on the "Big Red Machine." (It is verifiable via Mark Maynard.)
2009 - 2014
I have traveled the world 3 times working on AFSCN Satellite ground stations. I worked at NASA during the Shuttle Launches.
All of this exceeded the expectations of a Horne from Ashland.
As with a lot of my classmates, all of my family has passed and I am the last of my family.
